JazzCash has achieved a landmark milestone by onboarding its 1 millionth Raast QR-enabled merchant, marking a major step forward in PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Cashless Economy Initiative. This achievement positions JazzCash as the largest QR-based digital payment ecosystem in Pakistan, aligning with the State Bank of Pakistan’s goal to formalize the national economy.
The milestone was celebrated at a retail outlet run by the Behbud Association, a non-profit focused on vocational training and economic empowerment of women. By equipping Behbud’s artisans with instant digital payment capabilities, JazzCash is actively integrating women-led micro-enterprises into Pakistan’s formal economy.
Key leaders present at the event included Kaan Terzioglu, Aamir Ibrahim, and Murtaza Ali, highlighting the significance of this digital payment milestone. Their presence underscores JazzCash’s ongoing mission to scale financial inclusion nationwide.
Leveraging the SBP’s interoperable Raast framework, JazzCash has streamlined merchant onboarding and transformed traditional cash-based transactions into a high-velocity, documented digital ecosystem. The platform’s expansion is enhancing financial transparency while enabling faster, safer payments for millions of consumers and merchants.
Murtaza Ali stated, “Reaching 1 million QR-enabled merchants is a significant step in embedding digital payments into the daily lives of Pakistanis. From neighbourhood shops to mission-driven organizations like Behbud Association, JazzCash is enabling seamless, interoperable payments that support small businesses and strengthen the digital economy. Our focus remains on making financial services accessible, intuitive, and relevant for every Pakistani.”
This achievement reflects JazzCash’s commitment to fostering a cashless society, promoting financial inclusion, and empowering micro-businesses. By expanding its QR ecosystem, JazzCash is not only modernizing payments in Pakistan but also supporting the government’s vision of a transparent, formalized economy.
