Remember those plucky chickens from “Chicken Run”? They’re back, and this time they’re facing their most daring mission yet: rescuing their daughter from a high-tech nugget factory in “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget,” streaming on Netflix this Friday!
“Chickens are just funny,” says Peter Lord, co-founder of Aardman Animations, the studio behind stop-motion gems like “Wallace & Gromit” and “Shaun the Sheep.” And who can argue? From their awkward strut to their curious pecks, chickens are a natural source of comedic gold.
So, what’s the clucking plot this time? Ginger and Rocky, the heroes of the original, must infiltrate a Bond-villain-worthy nugget factory to save their daughter. Think Mission: Impossible with feathers!
Director Sam Fell promises it’s “spectacularly weird,” and we believe him. The film even flirted with a Rocky Balboa-inspired cock-fighting subplot – just imagine it!
But beyond the laughs, “Dawn of the Nugget” is a labor of love. Each animator can only shoot a mere four seconds per week! It’s a testament to Aardman’s dedication to the craft, with painstakingly built sets and handmade puppets.
And there’s good news for the future: the studio is now employee-owned, ensuring Aardman’s unique vision stays alive. “Chicken Run 2” is a perfect example of this spirit, a film made with passion and pride.
So, get ready to cackle with glee! “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget” is a clucking good time for the whole family. Just don’t blame us if you get a sudden craving for nuggets afterwards…
