Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecommunication has introduced a six-pillar policy to grow Artificial Intelligence in the country. The aim is to prepare industries, improve security, and link Pakistan with global AI leaders.
Here’s what each pillar means:
- 1. Innovation Ecosystem: Support startups and companies using AI, create more jobs, and bring AI into sectors like farming, healthcare, and smart city development.
- 2. Awareness & Readiness: Promote research, file more patents, and invest in training so Pakistan’s workforce can lead in AI.
- 3. Secure AI Ecosystem: Fight cyber threats, protect data, and ensure AI is used responsibly. Key government systems will be digitized and connected for better data sharing.
- 4. Transformation & Evolution: Encourage industries to use AI and build Pakistan’s own AI tools and models.
- 5. AI Infrastructure: Increase computing capacity, set up AI hubs, and make useful datasets more available.
- 6. International Partnerships: Work with global AI organizations, share research, and join worldwide AI events.
Officials say this plan will help Pakistan keep up with AI developments while creating economic opportunities and strengthening its digital systems.
