Pakistan is set to officially roll out 5G services around Eid al-Fitr, following the completion of licensing preparations by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. The move paves the way for telecom operators to deploy next-generation mobile networks across the country.
Telecom companies that secured the 5G spectrum will be formally granted licenses tomorrow, allowing them to begin operations immediately. The licenses will be issued during a special ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House, attended by company leadership and senior officials.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will serve as the chief guest at the event. The ceremony will also feature Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the PTA chairman, and other high-ranking government representatives.
The launch of 5G marks a major milestone for Pakistan’s telecommunications sector, promising faster internet speeds, lower latency, and support for advanced technologies like IoT, smart cities, and AI-enabled services. Analysts believe this rollout will boost digital infrastructure, improve connectivity, and enhance Pakistan’s competitiveness in the regional telecom market.
With licenses officially issued, operators are expected to begin network deployment immediately, bringing next-generation mobile services to urban centers first, followed by broader expansion into smaller cities and towns. This phased approach ensures efficient coverage while meeting growing consumer demand for high-speed mobile data.
The 5G launch is expected to transform Pakistan’s digital landscape, enabling innovations in sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation, and e-commerce. Faster mobile networks will also improve remote work capabilities, entertainment streaming, and overall user experience for millions of Pakistanis.
