Samsung has already started preparations for the upcoming One UI 9 update based on Android 17, even as the stable rollout of One UI 8.5 continues across compatible Galaxy devices.
The company has reportedly launched the One UI 9 beta program for the new Galaxy S26 series, signaling the early stages of Samsung’s next major software upgrade cycle. Additional Galaxy smartphones and tablets are also expected to join the beta program in the coming months.
Although Samsung has not officially released the complete list of supported devices yet, industry reports and the company’s existing software update policy provide a strong indication of which Galaxy models are likely to receive the update.
Samsung’s update strategy has significantly improved in recent years, with the company now offering some of the longest Android software support periods in the smartphone industry. Many flagship and mid-range Galaxy devices are currently eligible for multiple generations of Android and One UI updates.
The upcoming One UI 9 update is expected to introduce several improvements focused on performance optimization, artificial intelligence features, battery efficiency, privacy controls, and smoother user interface animations. Android 17 integration is also likely to bring enhanced multitasking capabilities and security upgrades.
Devices expected to receive One UI 9 include newer Galaxy S series flagships, foldable Galaxy Z smartphones, selected Galaxy A series models, and premium Galaxy tablets. Recently launched devices are expected to receive priority during the rollout process.
Samsung’s strong software support policy has become one of the company’s biggest competitive advantages in the Android market. Long-term updates play a major role in extending device lifespan and improving overall user experience.
While premium Galaxy devices are almost certain to receive One UI 9, some older budget and mid-range models may not qualify depending on their launch date and software support window. Samsung typically finalizes its eligibility list closer to the official rollout phase.
The One UI 9 beta testing period is expected to continue over the next few months before Samsung begins releasing stable updates globally. Users participating in the beta program will likely gain early access to new features and interface enhancements.
As anticipation grows around Android 17 and One UI 9, Galaxy users are closely monitoring Samsung’s official announcements to confirm whether their devices will be included in the update cycle.
