Pakistan Government Prioritizes Quality Telecom Services for the Masses

In a recent meeting with the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VEON, Pakistan’s Caretaker Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Dr. Umar Saif reiterated the government’s commitment to providing quality telecom services to the masses. He emphasized that improving connectivity across the country remains a top priority for the government.

During the meeting, Dr. Saif discussed matters of mutual interest related to the telecom sector with the VEON delegation, led by CEO Jazz Aamir Ibrahim. He highlighted the government’s plans to auction tech-neutral spectrum soon, a move aimed at enhancing telecom services for the public.

Expressing the government’s support for the telecom industry, Dr. Saif pledged to provide every possible cooperation to facilitate the launch of 5G services in Pakistan. He also announced plans to introduce a scheme for providing smart mobile phones in easy installments, making them more accessible to a wider segment of the population.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s favorable investment climate, Dr. Saif encouraged VEON to explore investment opportunities in the e-agriculture, e-education, and e-health sectors. He commended the VEON Group for its contributions to the technology field and its efforts in promoting smartphone adoption.

VEON’s CEO Aamir Ibrahim acknowledged the importance of stable telecom systems for building a strong digital ecosystem and fostering economic stability. He expressed his company’s commitment to working closely with the government to advance Pakistan’s telecom sector.

The meeting concluded with senior officials from the IT Ministry also in attendance. The discussions underscore the government’s dedication to improving connectivity, promoting digital inclusion, and fostering a thriving telecom industry in Pakistan.
