JazzWorld and UNICEF Partner to Promote Digital Inclusion and Lay Groundwork for Inclusive AI in Pakistan

JazzWorld and UNICEF have signed a Letter of Intent to explore initiatives aimed at expanding digital inclusion, empowering young people, improving online safety, and strengthening technology-enabled humanitarian response across Pakistan. The proposed collaboration seeks to create more opportunities for children, women, young people, and underserved communities to benefit from digital technology.

The partnership comes as artificial intelligence continues to reshape education, employment, communication, and access to essential services. Both organizations aim to explore ways to help more people participate in the digital economy while ensuring that technological progress benefits communities that face barriers to digital access.

Under the proposed collaboration, JazzWorld and UNICEF will explore four priority areas: digital inclusion and youth empowerment, online safety and digital well-being, humanitarian response and disaster preparedness, and public advocacy and engagement.

A key focus will be expanding access to digital education, literacy, and skills development, particularly for young people from underserved communities. These capabilities can help individuals navigate digital platforms, access learning opportunities, and prepare for emerging employment opportunities linked to technology and artificial intelligence.

The organizations will also explore ways to strengthen Pakistan’s Digital Youth Hub, an initiative established by the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme in partnership with UNICEF. JazzWorld’s technical capabilities could support efforts to improve learning opportunities, employability, and participation in the country’s growing digital economy.

Developing digital skills is increasingly important as businesses and institutions adopt AI-powered tools. Young people need opportunities to understand these technologies, assess the information they produce, and use them safely and responsibly.

The proposed collaboration also places significant emphasis on online safety. Children, adolescents, and girls can face risks such as online harassment, abuse, and other forms of technology-facilitated harm. The organizations will explore initiatives to raise awareness, strengthen digital literacy, and encourage safer participation in online spaces.

In addition to education and online protection, the partnership will examine how mobile connectivity and digital communication platforms could support disaster preparedness across Pakistan. These technologies can help distribute early warnings, share emergency information, and improve communication with communities affected by floods and other humanitarian emergencies.

Timely and accessible information can be particularly important during disasters, when affected communities need guidance about evacuation, emergency assistance, and available services. Exploring digital communication solutions could help improve the reach of critical information, depending on network availability and the needs of affected populations.

Commenting on the collaboration, Syed Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at JazzWorld, highlighted the relationship between digital inclusion and access to artificial intelligence. He emphasized the importance of giving young people access to technology, relevant skills, and safe digital environments so they can benefit from emerging opportunities.

The proposed partnership will also explore public awareness campaigns, cause-related initiatives, and engagement involving customers and employees. These efforts are intended to support shared priorities relating to children’s rights, youth development, women’s empowerment, and underserved communities.

For Pakistan, the collaboration reflects growing attention to the social impact of digital transformation. Expanding internet access alone may not be sufficient to ensure equal participation; people also need relevant skills, protection from online risks, and opportunities to use technology for education, employment, and essential services.

The Letter of Intent establishes a basis for exploring cooperation, but the specific projects, implementation schedules, and measurable outcomes will depend on further planning by the two organizations.

Through the proposed collaboration, JazzWorld and UNICEF aim to identify practical ways to help communities learn, earn, stay safe online, and respond more effectively to emergencies. The broader objective is to support a more digitally inclusive and resilient Pakistan while laying foundations for wider and more equitable participation in an AI-enabled future.
